It is the high advisory body of the ITR and is made up of prominent personalities from diverse geographic and institutional backgrounds and is a nodal point for the relevant actors in the field of global sustainable tourism policy of the ITR. It includes individual representations of relevant actors in national governments, local authorities, international organizations, industry associations and representatives, tourism agencies, NGOs and ITR-related members in general. Eventually, some influential experts from the Scientific Committee may join this Council.
The Advisory Council consists of a maximum of 20 members that adequately reflect the basis of the partners and collaborating entities of the ITR. The appointment of a director shall require the unanimous vote of the Board of Directors.
The ITR will submit to the Advisory Council the annual action plans, the relevant initiatives and the guidelines of its action.
The recommendations of the Advisory Council shall be advisory. Its function is to guide and feedback the activity of the ITR in order to continue to fulfill its foundational objectives and sustain efforts in favor of tourism sustainability through its leadership.
